In the Women’s field Hockey Competition, Korea and Japan from Pool A at 830 BST will fight to earn their first points of the London 2012 Games. Both Korea and Japan, who are placed at 8th and 9th place in FIH World Ranking and finished at 9th and 10th place respectively in Beijing 4 years ago, have lost their first two matches.
Japan had suffered a loss against the hosts, Great Britain win (4-0) over Japanese Women, who are at 9th place in FIH World Rankings in their opening match. They had to encounter another loss in their match against the defending Olympics Gold Medalist, the Netherlands, 1st in the FIH World Rankings. The Dutch, who won (3-0) their 2012 Olympic Campaign opening game against Belgium, eventually won (3-2) their second game against Japan.
The Korean team had also faced two losses in their both opening games. In their first match against the Chinese team – the Asain rivals, Korea failed to score a single goal. Silver Medalists of Beijing Olympics China defeated their opponents with 4-0. In their second match against the hosts Great Britain bagged three points and defeated Korea in their 2nd match of London 2012 in front of the vocal home ground.
Now, one or both the teams will earn their first points of the competition in this up-coming match.
