The opening day of the 3rd test clash between Australia and India get abandoned fully due to rain. It had been raining in Chandigarh and the areas around the place since Wednesday night and continued also on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, Australia axed four of their players on disciplinary grounds. Steven Smith replaced Shane Watson in the top six as a batting all-rounder, while Glenn Maxwell made way for Nathan Lyon. Left-arm quick Mitchell Starc was also drafted into the side in place of James Pattinson. Injured wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade also made way for Brad Haddin, who flew in from Australia as cover.
However the Meteorological Department has forecasted a rainless day on Friday. The PCA Joint Secretary, GS Walia has informed that the match would start half an hour early from Friday to make up for the loss of play on Thursday. India is dominating the four-match series 2-0 after convincing wins in the opening two test matches in Chennai and Hyderabad.
