After the opening ODI match being washed out completely, England and India will face each other in the second ODI match at Cardiff on Wednesday.

After an unfortunate washout of first ODI game in Bristol with not a single ball being bowled, the weather is looking much more promising in Cardiff where a full game is likely to be played. As a result, Alex Hales will make his debut in the 2nd ODI which is a dangerous prospect for India if he is in form because he is deadly with the white ball in Twenty20 cricket. England face a selection issue as it seems impossible to fit both Gary Ballance and Joe Root who are in good form as viewed during the Test series in the same team. In addition, Ravi Bopara is unavailable and either Moeen Ali or Ben Stokes should replace him as an all-rounder. The probable English squad will include: 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Alex Hales, 3 Ian Bell, 4 Joe Root, 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Moeen Ali/Ben Stokes, 7 Jos Buttler (wk), 8 Chris Woakes, 9 Chris Jordan, 10 James Anderson, 11 Harry Gurney.

On the other hands, India will look to dominate the hosts in the shorter format of cricket in which they viewed as more skilful due to their star batsmen. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have been the opening pair in ODI cricket for India for a while now but both were very disappointing in the Test series and failed to nail down spots in the XI but must return to form quickly in the ODI series. The likely Indian line-up will include: 1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 Rohit Sharma, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 Ajinkya Rahane, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Mohammed Shami, 11 Umesh Yadav.
