The assembly of completely diverse music makers does not lead to great musical expectations.

Music:

The music isn't what we expect from a fun, earthy North India-based movie at all. Films similar in backdrops like Khosla Ka Ghosla, Vicky Donor and Band Baaja Baaraat, to give just three examples, had some notable tracks.

The lead track 'Tarzan' (Anu Malik, Anmol Malik and Parichay) is hardly something for which the composer (who also sang for another composer in the 1990 film Fateh under Naresh Sharma) and his daughter Anmol will be remembered, all the more as it is their 'historic' first collaboration as singers. The song composed by Parichay has nonsensical lyrics by Manoj Yadav and Parichay himself, and however irreverent the situation is, the words could have been more elegant.

'Tarzan (Bloodline Remix)' sung by Parichay and Asees Kaur and is even less memorable, with lackadaisical vocals adding to the mediocrity quotient.

Dr. Palash Sen composes and co-writes three songs in this ensemble, of which 'Phacebook Pe Pyar', which he also sings with Tulsi Kumar, is interesting. The lyrics (Dr. Sen with Deekshant Sherawat) and the retro air are at deliberate odds to give a mildly amusing result. The vocal tones are kept gimmicky as needed for the mood of the song.

The remaining two songs are a spoof (we would not exactly call them 'tributes') to Vaishnav Mata and are replete with lyrics that make little meaning and have even less of good taste: 'Welcome Maiyya' (Jitender Dev-Onkar Singh) and '1-2-3 (Gangster Jagran) sung by Aatish Ddavidd (no, that's not a typo!) and Jitender Dev are humdrum tracks that are best ignored.

Mikey McCleary delivers a decent song in 'Tu Tu Tu', which is sung and written by Ankit Tiwari with some old-world Western beats and orchestration. The simple pattern of the lyrics ('Chaabi bane taale ke liye / Dastaane sardi ke liye / Biscuit chai mein dubone ke liye / Aur tu mere liye') is fairly innovative. And yet again, we wonder why the word 'Tu' is pronounced almost like 'Thoo' in so many recent songs by Ankit, Arijit, Yo Yo and others. Is it some weird trend?

Mikey's other song 'Chop Chop' (by someone who calls him MicrOphone!) is a silly and meaningless piece of rap that is supposed to be the theme track of this album. Anand Bajpai composes and sings another inelegant song 'Tu Joota Tu Mera Fita' with lyrics (by Raghav Dutt this time) that even uses the Hindi word for 'toilet' within it! Is this what we know as Hindi film lyrics have come to?

Overall:

Hear and forget it. If some songs do sound better within the film, then it will be a bonus.

Our Pick:

'Phacebook Pyaar', 'Tu Tu Tu'

Music: Dr Palash Sen, Parichay, Anand Bajpai & Mikey Mccleary
Lyrics:Manoj Yadav, Parichay, Dr. Palash Sen,Deekshant Sherawat, Tanmay Bahulekar, Ankur Tewari & Raghav Dutt
