USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Expectations:
Low expectations are there, though we are still hopelessly hopeful (!) of magical music being the market magnet for a small concept-based film.

Music:
The two item songs, 'Madam Ji' (Geet Sagar, Ritu Pathak, Sadhu Sushil Tiwari) and 'Ras Bhari Bhari' (Tarannum Malik) share equal spicy and naughty quotients. The former (composed by Tiwari himself) has cleverer lyrics that cater to the frontbenchers (as those who love such songs are called). But it is the second song (composed by Sanjay Pathak) that lingers longer, despite Tarannum's laidback vocals that make her seem like a tepid Sunidhi Chauhan. The tune is simpler, more basic in its appeal, and better-decked (as in orchestrated).

'Daba Ke Dum Doggy Bhaage Re' (Ritu Pathak, Sadhu Sushil Tiwari) has a prelude that sounds almost the same as that of 'London thumakda' from Queen. The lyrics (Niket Pandey) are serviceably clever for a song of this genre. The music is frenetic, as befits the song's needs.

Gulzar's lexicon is brought into the next track 'Teri Maujudgi' in the introductory lines 'Raat ki slate pe / Chand ki chalk se / Naam tumhara likhta hoon', a song that Javed Ali sings again in Sonu Nigam mode. Nevertheless, this is one of Javed's better-rendered songs, with a Sufi-meets-romantic timbre that has a dollop of the qawwali in the main lines. The lyrics (Niket Pandey) are fairly imaginative, with Anand Bakshi in the 1999 Kachche Dhaage also becoming an inspiration later ('Doobon to hi paar kare / Yeh ishq ki lehren kyoon').

The 'modern', brief version of the same song, 'Teri Maujudgi Teri Maujudgi' is belted out raucously by Khushbu Jain with some rock-ous orchestration. A situational need, we presume.

Overall:
This is a humble score for a humble film. Not bad, really, even if does not add to the film's value.

Our Pick:
'Ras Bhari', 'Teri Maujudgi'

Music: Sadhu Sushil Tiwari, Sanjay Pathak & Satish Kashyap
Lyrics: Niket Pandey, Dr. Devendra Kafir, Niket Pandey & Prita S. Pathak
