Over the years, Hate Story has turned out to be a formidable franchise. Though music of Hate Story was just about decent, it was better when it came to the sequel. Now that the third in the series has turned into an even bigger film, one expects the music to take a turn for the better as well. Multiple composers (Amaal Mallik, Meet Bros, Baman) and lyricists (Rashmi Virag, Kumaar, Manoj Muntashir, Shabbir Ahmed) are roped in to do the job and one expects some catchy tunes from the four songs in the offering.

MUSIC

It is a perfect start for the soundtrack as the chartbuster track from Sadak, 'Tumhe Apna Banaane Ki Kasam Khayi Hai', is restructured in the form of 'Tumhe Apna Banane Ka Junoon Sar Pe Hai'. Except for the basic tonality that comes in the first couple of lines in the mukhda, everything about this Amaal Mallik and Rashmi Virag is different and that is what makes this one special. Boasting of a contemporary sound with some youthful singing by Armaan Malik and Neeti Mohan, this is one of those rare restructured numbers that actually go a one up on the original and stand out amidst the crowd.

In a franchise where seduction is the core of affairs, the arrival of Kumar written 'Tu Isaq Mera' is pretty much the need of the hour. Meet Bros (minus Anjjan, who has now moved on) bring on their characteristic beats with this super-catchy number that has just the right beats coupled with Earl Edgar's rap portions which makes it an urban, cool and trendy number. Expect temperatures to soar with this well sung number by Neha Kakkar that has in it to keep you glued on screen while it is played.

It is time for romance to return in the soundtrack with newcomer composer Baman pairing up with lyricist Manoj Muntashir for 'Wajah Tum Ho' which begins very well. A song which could well have found its way in Arijit Singh's space, this one instead has Armaan Malik taking charge and making it his own. One of those songs that maintain a very good pace right through its proceedings, 'Wajah Tum Ho' makes sure that you play this six minute long track in a repeat mode and enjoy its melodic sound.

Last to arrive is 'Neendein Khul Jaati Hain' which actually surprises you because of the peppy sound that it carries. While one would have expected a song like this to feature in a campus affair or a romcom, it is actually fun to find this one featuring in a franchise like Hate Story 3 that belongs to an altogether different genre while catering to a certain set of audience. Nevertheless, this Meet Bros song makes you groove to the beats and one wonders how a 'remix version' wasn't thought of here. Meanwhile, Shabbir Ahmed's naughty lyrics make sure that Mika Singh and Kanika Kapoor let their hair down while singing this one.

OVERALL

The music of Hate Story 3 throws a very pleasant surprise and exceeds expectations in a big way. It is rare to find more than a couple of good songs in an album in the current times. However, Hate Story has each of the four songs leaving an impact, hence ensuring that the soundtrack gets a chartbuster status in quick time. Give this one a wholesome hear for sure.
