With a daring and adventurous mix of jazz, indie and classic pop influences, singer-songwriter Xenia Dunford has played countless shows across the U.S. from Boston to Los Angeles. The buzz is starting to grow for Dunford after “Killing Kind of Love” from her debut EP was used in ABC’s Revenge Season 2 Promo.  With an appearance at the Canadian Music Festival among her touring plans, the excitement will only increase in 2013 once people hear her debut full length album His & Hers.

Dunford will showcase at Canadian Music Fest on March 22, 2013 at the Dakota Tavern at 9pm. “It will be a great experience for us not only to perform, but to meet international artists and contacts,” says Dunford.  “The festival being held in Toronto is practically a dream come true as I have family that lives there and have visited many times. The city is electric, full of culture and vitality, and I can’t wait to be a part of that, even if it is for only a week!”

Dunford’s evolution as a musician has been a gradual but noteworthy one. Her first release, 2011’s self-titled EP, featured jazz, piano ballads and piano pop, however, 2012’s Lonely Streets EP saw her adding more rock and acoustic sounds into the mix. With the release of her first full-length album to be released April 23rd titled ‘His & Hers’, Dunford’s growth continues as she adds even more musical variety to her repertoire with hints of folk rock, country and Americana appearing throughout.

“The album title goes back to the fact that my guitarist and songwriting partner, Scotty Mlodzinski, and I pretty much did everything fifty-fifty here,” she says. “I love folk, country and Americana music, but at the same time I bring elements of jazz and some soulful pop as well. Scotty played in blues and rock ‘n roll bands and he brings that rootsy blues vibe to the table.” Dunford, Mlodzinski and bassist Forrest Pettengill created an album that is full of diverse sounds, emotions and experiences that will resonate with many listeners.
