Police have now charged a man in relation to a sexual assault, after he was arrested yesterday.

On Sunday, July 31, 2011, just after midnight, police received a call that a woman had been sexually assaulted behind some shrubs at the corner of 17 Avenue and Centre Street S.

Police responded to the area where they located the victim, who received immediate medical attention.

The victim had met the suspect earlier on the Stampede CTrain platform, after leaving a concert.

Witnesses heard screams, then saw the suspect fleeing in a southbound direction.

After CPS released information on this incident to the public, investigators received several tips.

On Wednesday, August 3, 2011, a man was arrested after he turned himself in at a CPS district office.

Nigel Conner STIMSON, 19, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of sexual assault causing bodily harm and one of count unlawful confinement. Please note, the first charge is different than the one originally announced, aggravated sexual assault.
