Calgary mother charged with an attempt to murder infant

The Calgary Police Service has charged a woman in connection with an infant found in a dumpster last fall.
 
On Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at approximately 1:20 p.m., a citizen discovered a crying newborn baby in a garbage bin in the 500 block of 40 Avenue N.W.
 
District 3 units responded immediately and EMS transported the male infant to hospital in stable condition.
 
Following an extensive investigation, police took one woman into custody without incident on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011.
 
Meredith Katharine Borowiec, 30, of Calgary, is charged with one count each of attempted murder, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, child abandonment, and failure to provide the necessities of life for a child under 16.
