According to a latest press release, two of NTT’s divisions – NTT America and NTT do Brazil have announced that they will be investing in Brazil by expanding their IP network and services in the South American region. NTT communications will be building a network POP (point of presence). The POP service will be available online next month. This announcement was made at the Futurecomm Brazil show at Sao Paulo.

NTT America has reported that Brazilian customer are keen to purchase 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections and NTT has already developed various social networking, gaming and content websites for the Brazilian customer base. In fact, the major reason behind excellent Internet quality requirement is the upcoming World Cup 2014 and Summer Olympics in 2016.

Michael Wheeler, vice president of NTT’s global IP network business unit said, “We’ve had business in and out of South America, but most customers are connected to us in the United States on our own infrastructure in Miami, New York, Los Angeles or Dallas today. Over the last couple of years, our customers have asked specifically about Brazil and about South America as a whole.”
