copa brasil 2014Brazil will be home to the 2014 World Cup. There are currently multiple views on whether the host nation will be able to complete the requirements of infrastructure and travel before the warm up Confederations Cup 2013 or not.

Brazil’s Sports Minister Orlando Silva on Wednesday said, “The issue of stadiums is already resolved. We will have nine stadiums finished in 2012 and the rest will be finished in 2013. The advance on works of the airports is also important and we are very satisfied. Stadiums and airports are the two most important pillars for the World Cup.”

The government has however earlier reported that the pace of the projects is not as it should be. Transportation infrastructures including airport renovations are still underway. Officials have been reported to be worried as only 1000 days are left till the World Cup 2014.

There are a total of 12 Brazilian cities where the games will be held. They include Brasilia, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alleger, Curitiba, Manaus, Recife, Fortaleza, Natal and Cuiaba. The sports minister has said that a bidding campaign to promote the country’s cultural, social and tourist aspect will be launched for the different projects.

www.copa2014.gov.br will be the official website for the event.
