Emmanuel International Canada is responding to flash floods caused by tropical storm, Washi, which has caused over a thousand casualties and thousands of families homeless.
Richard McGowan, Director of Emmanuel International Canada, appeals for aid for victims of the floods that have killed more than a thousand people in the Philippines. The devastation caused is similar to that of a tsunami which leaves people in incredibly hazardous living conditions.
There are concerns of possible outbreaks of disease among the thousands living in evacuation centers after their homes, businesses and possessions were washed away.
Emmanuel Canada’s immediate response is to provide emergency food, water, shelter and necessary supplies to families suffering from this disaster. Emmanuel Canada has been working in the Philippines now for over thirty years majority of which have been dedicated to working in four main areas: relief, rehabilitation, sustainable development and Christian ministries.
