The greater Bahr el Ghazal States youth’s strategy and planning conference is underway in Aweil, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

The strategy conference was officially opened by the State Deputy acting Governor, Hon. Madut Yel and graced by several State parliamentarians.

The conference which is expected to run for 4 days attracted 25 representatives from 4 States across the region; Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Western Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap and Lake State, including 150 participants from the Diaspora.

Various Non Governmental Organizations operating in the four regions and other dignitaries from civil society groups in South Sudan are also in-attendance.

“The conference will mainly focus on challenges facing the youth in the region including peace building, insecurity caused by cattle raids and unity among themselves,” said the chairperson of youth inactive association, Mr. Angok Arthur Akuien shortly after the conference opening.

“We are strategizing to have a bright future for the new born nation through sustainable peace building,” he added.

This is the first strategy and planning youth conference of its kind since the independence of South Sudan, it’s expected to lay a foundation stone in alienating insecurity in the Country caused by local youths.

The conference is also expected to address the youth’s common problems like unemployment, availability of government study scholarships, youth involvement in developing agriculture as the backbone of the country and other social needs in Greater Bahr el Ghazal States.

The participants are also expected to discuss how to involve the youth in cultural activities and heritage.
