Mississauga man dies during a fatal collision on Cawthra Road, QEW

Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau have charged a 20 year-old male with impaired related charges after a fatal collision on Cawthra Road, at the QEW.

On Sunday December 11th, 2011, at approximately 3:26 a.m the victim, a 40 year-old Mississauga man was operating a 2001 Kia Rio in the intersection of Cawthra Road and the QEW when his vehicle collided with a 2012 Dodge Caliber.

The victim and his 2 year-old son were ejected from their vehicle. Both were taken to hospital where the father succumbed to his injuries. The 2 year-old sustained serious injuries. The victim’s wife who was also in the vehicle was sent to hospital with minor injuries.

The 4 occupants of the Dodge were sent to hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries.

20 year-old, Darren Millett, has been charged with 9 alcohol related driving offences, including Impaired Driving Causing Death, Criminal Negligence Causing Death, Excess Blood Alcohol, three counts of Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm and three counts of Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm. Millett will make an appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Monday, December 12, 2011.
