A member of the State Legislative Assembly Alma Thomas said all women in the state were fully behind the gallant forces as they counter incursion by neighbouring Sudan.

“I call upon all women and the youth to contribute in whichever way to the ongoing efforts to protect our territory”, she said at Torit Freedom Square during celebrations to mark the 29 anniversary of the country’s army, the SPLA.

The Ikwoto County MP and leader of the Women Association in Eastern Equatoria State disclosed that she had given her personal contribution, adding that food items and cash contributions were being collected in the state to support the army.

“The contribution by the Women Association Eastern Equatoria State is ongoing and shall be handed over to a relevant committee which will relay it to SPLA forces at the border zones”, she said.

The State Governor Brigadier General Louis Lobong Lojore has announced an ongoing contribution for material, financial and in kind support to sustain South Sudanese soldiers.

He has severally appealed to the state’s youth to willingly offer themselves as personnel to defend their nation against external aggression.
