Jonglei State Governor Kuol Manyang Juuk says that the tribal clashes have been reduced by 99 percent leading to improvement in trade between the communities in the state.
Early this month, a group of criminals from the Murle community were alleged to have raided and stolen cattle from the Makol-Cuel in Bor County.
Police pursued the thieves and the cows were recovered in Bainyith village of Ezdhino Payam in Pibor County.
Pibor County Commissioner Joshua Konyi said that increased security has led to the opening of a trade route between Bor and Pibor as cattle can now move freely.
“The cattle business between youth of Pibor and Bor will improve the relations through building on a common goal of business”, he said
According to the Commissioner, youth development is one of the biggest challenges facing the state affected by conflict.
Caravans made up of Murle and Dinka Bor traders have arrived in Bor in the last two months to sell their cattle.
