The training organized by the South Sudan Aids Commission, Ministry of Health and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) comes at a time when the world is set to commemorate the World Aids Day on 1st of December where South Sudan is preparing to host its celebrations in Torit, Eastern Equatoria State.

The objective of the workshop is to raise awareness of the media houses in South Sudan to advocate and communicate relative information about HIV and AIDs.

Combating HIV and AIDs, malaria and other related diseases is Millennium Development Goal (MDG) six that is set to be achieved by 2015.

The discussion includes the 2010 household health survey in which low levels condom use and early pregnancies were found to be some of the issues.

The Director General for Finance and Administration, Ruben William called for concerted efforts in the fight against HIV.
