A statement released from the office of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Secretary General, pagan Amum indicates that, President Salva Kiir has sent the South Sudan Chief Negotiator on the post secession talks Pagan Amum delivering a letters seeking for support on the implementation of the agreement.

On Wednesday Pagan delivered a letter to Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and discussed several issues in the agreement which have not been fully implemented as agreed.

“The Special Envoy delivered a letter from H.E President Salva Kiir and discussed the current impasses with the government of Sudan in particular the Abyei issue, border demarcation and the blocking of resumption of oil and its exportation through Sudan,” said the statement.

“President Jonathan welcomed the delegation and requested to meet with President Kiir in Addis Ababa during the AU Summit to be held at the end of January in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

President Jonathan also expressed Nigerian’s readiness to strengthen its bilateral relations with South Sudan in terms of economic relations and various trainings in area of expertise.

The South Sudan envoy, Pagan is expected to travel to several West African countries to discuss the current political and security situation between South Sudan and Sudan ahead of the awaited AU Summit and the Peace and Security Council.

After the two heads of States; Salva Kiir and Omar Al Bashir of Sudan sealed an agreement last year in July, confidence in expectation of peace and economic stability clouded the governments of both countries and the region in particular.

The chairperson of the African Union H.E Thomas Yayi Boni made an official visit to the Republic of South Sudan on Thursday.

H.E Boni, who is also the President of the Republic of Benin, arrived at the Juba International Airport in Juba and held bilateral meetings with H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit.

The talks centered on the country’s relationship with Sudan among others discussed the issue of Abyei, border demarcation, and the disputed and claimed areas.

President Boni was expected to hold discussions with President Omar El Bashir of Sudan on the same issues.
