Speaking to Gurtong, the Jonglei State Local Government Minister, Diing Akol said the Egyptian Ambassador visited the site of the project started by the Egyptian government in Jonglei state.

“The ambassador came to check the remaining part of the construction and see what are the materials needed for the clinic to complete, the second was to visit the power station which is already handed over by the Egypt government to the Jonglei state government,” Akol said.

Akol said Egypt government has constructed a clinic within Bor Civil Hospital and is expected to open officially in February.

The power station is currently not functioning following the shutting down of the oil pipelines by the government of South Sudan.

He said that the two generators which were donated by the Egypt government are now idle because of some austerity measures.

“It is the responsibility of the government of South Sudan to complete the installation of the power poles and distribution of power in Bor town but that did not happen,” he said.

There is no fuel which can support the operation of the power station in the town.

He said that the Egyptian government has completed the construction of a primary school in Uror County and is ready to be opened soon.
