Joseph Colombos Lokodo was suspended from the committee with effect from February 21 but will retain his position as an ordinary member of parliament until allegations against him are cleared.

The speaker is expected to form a fact finding committee to investigate the allegations though he did not give details of the indictment or charge against the embattled MP but insisted that the move remains an internal administrative issues within the parliament and cannot be exposed the public at the time.

The MP will continue attending parliamentary sessions and will continue to receive his full emoluments as an MP but not as the committee head.

Ocholimoi said the appointments and dismissals of the specialized committee chairpersons falls within the competence of the assembly speaker in accordance with State Transitional Constitution.

Justine Lobuya Napee, an MP representing people with disability has been appointed by the speaker to replace the outgoing Lokodo while Margaret Kasara Kiwa remains the deputy chairperson of the committee.

Lokodo is an SPLM Member representing Budi County Constituency No. 20, Lauro-Loriyok-Ngarich at the state assembly.

The suspended MP has not been available for comments and the speaker disclosed that the MP has taken permission that he has been sick and needed rest.
