The President of the Government of Southern Sudan Lieutenant General Salva Kiir Mayardit has announced a new 32-member cabinet.

The new government announced today, 21 June 2010, has new faces while some former Ministers have been retained in their dockets.

Notable new appointees are the SPLM Secretary – General Pagan Amum and Southern Sector SPLM Secretary Dr Anne Itto who have been appointed Ministers of Peace and CPA Implementation and Cooperatives and Rural Development respectively.

The all-inclusive cabinet also consists of Ministers from the National Congress Party (NCP) and other South Sudan political parties.

However, the NCP is yet to forward their nominations for the Environment and Wildlife portfolios.

The new appointments take effect immediately and the new Ministers will steer South Sudan into the referendum vote scheduled for January 9, 2011.

General Oyay Deng Ajak – Minister of Investment
Mrs Awut Deng Acuil – Minister of Labour and Public Service
Dr Barnaba Marial Benjamin – Minister of Information
Dr Luke Tombekana Monoja – Minister of Health
Dr Samson Lukare Kwaje – Minister of Agriculture and Forestry
Mr Anthony Lino Makana – Minister of Roads and Transport
