More police stations will be set up along the major roads linking all the eight counties of Lakes State, the State Inspector of Police in Rumbek Central County Colonel Mangar Aping Buoi, has said.

He said the new development has been necessitated by the upsurge in insecurity in the state.

“Police stations are going to be opened all over Lakes State starting with Rumbek Central County. This has been directed by the State Governor and his Local Government and Law Enforcement Agencies Minister”, said Colonel Buoi.

He added that Rumbek town has been divided into four security zones and said his department intends to establish a police station in each of the zones and staff the stations adequately.

Colonel Mangar explained that the new security establishments will bring security services closer to the people, thereby reducing what he described as “the load on Central Police Station”.

The police boss further said that the staff for the police stations are ready, adding that a temporary accommodation for them in tents is being envisaged.

“As soon we get tents, the establishment will take its course immediately and our 42 mobile police cars will start operations”, Colonel Buoi.

He also revealed that police officers patrol Rumbek town daily from 6PM to 6AM to ensure the security of the residents and in a bid to minimise crimes.
