Abu-Bakr Ismael Mohammed, the Acting Director of Yei Town Block made this announcement after the 29th December meeting with all the chairpersons of different tribal groups living in Yei municipality.

The meeting agreed to hold peaceful celebration at Yei Freedom square to mark the end of the year 2013 and the beginning of the New Year 2014.

The chairpersons of the tribes and the government have urged all the citizens not to fear celebrating the New Year festive due to the current clashes in some parts of the country adding the security is healthy in the municipality.

The celebrations will kick off tomorrow at 6am and will end at 6:30pm.

Last week during the Christmas festivities, hundreds of residents converged at Yei Freedom Square with the hope of showing their traditional talents, unfortunately their dreams could not come true, as no traditional dances, football tournaments were organized in the town.

However the announcement made for the New Year celebration has raised eyebrows of many residents as they get busy smearing their mud houses, others doing general cleaning in the houses and some are rushing to have goats and drinks for the New Year 2014.

Yei hosts different tribes and foreigners living in the small metropolitan town.
