The August House opened last Monday, marking its first sitting for the New Year. The Government Spokesperson in the State Hon. Paul Dhel Gum said the speech was passed in the Assembly sitting number three.

“Warrap State Legislative Assembly in its sitting number 3/2014, dated 17/2/2014 passed unanimously the speech of Hon. Governor,” Dhel said. He said the deliberations focused on unity, security; improving service delivery and team work among the organs of the state government.

He said the members of parliament emphasized on the governor’s speech to bring about peace and security in Warrap. “The MPs emphasized the call of the Governor to the people of Warrap to embrace peace and rise up to protect the sovereignty and legitimate government under the leadership of H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit,” he said.

“The year 2014 is the year of unity and team work in Warrap state. Our people are expecting much form both the legislature and the executive in transforming their living standards through agriculture, education and health services.”

The Governor of Warrap State Hon. Nyandeng Malek last week urged all the politicians in the state to stop politics of negative rhetoric to give peace a chance among people during this political crisis.

Ms. Malek pledged her government’s support to the ongoing peace talks between the government and the rebel group.

“Warrap State Government and her people will continue to support the leadership of His Excellency President Kiir Mayardit. Together with you, I support our President to continue with peaceful negotiation and dialogue with the rebels,” she said last week.

“I believe the commitment shown by our MPs and the roadmap drawn by the state governor will have a positive impact on the livelihood of our people.”
