“Have you ever felt cheated, deceived, and lied to in your life? It must have made you feel terrible and stupid if this has been deliberately and repeatedly done to you and you have not stopped the cheater in his cunning tricks".

The country has been in Unity for many decades and the Unity was misused by central Government in Khartoum with bad intentions of humiliating, dehumanizing, devaluing, marginalizing the Southerners, but on other hand, exploiting oil resources being produced in Unity State (Bentiu) from Southern Sudan.

Since the Independence of Sudan in 1956 from the British colonial power, there were no proper hospitals, schools, roads, and infrastructures built in Southern Sudan, no equitable representation of the people of South Sudan at the national level

A credit is given to Dr.John Yien Tut for his wise analysis that he has written in his book "My Moment of Decision for Independent of Southern Sudan," which says: “have you ever felt cheated, deceived, and lied to in your life? It must have made you feel terrible and stupid if this has been deliberately and repeatedly done to you and you have not stopped the cheater in his cunning tricks".

Southerners cannot be cheated, deceived once again because the deception, cheating has become the phenomenon of Northerners in political atmosphere of Sudan.

There was unfortunate statement aired out by Kamal Obeid, Sudan information Minister on the status of Southern Sudanese living in the North should the latter opt for Independence in the next year’s referendum, they will not enjoy citizenship rights, jobs or benefits, they will not be allowed to buy or sell in Khartoum market. What a contradiction statement? Using a threats will not make Unity attractive Mr. Kamal Obeid, contrary it will make secession attractive.

To my fellow Southerners who are still living in Northern Sudan, you are highly welcome home and determine your fate in the upcoming referendum. There is a quotation that goes like this “Anyone who allowss to be politically marginalized in his/her own country without standing against it has his/her humanity questioned"-Dr.John Garang
