The state official said the EES government will from time to time work closely with New Kush to ensure limestone exploration continues profitably in the region.

The first gold mining exploration in the region has already begun as part of the preparations.

The company’s Director, Anthony Viljoen told journalists that they in close collaboration with the state authorities have been granted a license to undertake gold mining and exploration in the state by the Juba government.The company, prior to this did a wide range of consultations with both local and state leaders.

The company’s Chief Viljoen confirmed that his corporation has its mining apparatus at the Kenyan port of Mombasa ready to be transported to South Sudan for operations in the sector.

The former State Minister of Commerce, Investment, Industry and Mining Hon. Stella Brenda Lorika, now minister of Public Service, revealed that the Central Government in Juba is directly responsible for managing the mineral explorations. 

“Once the company is given the concession by the National Government, the state government will facilitate a series of consultations alongside host communities as the exploration gets underway”, she said.
