The office of the State Legal Administration’s Acting Director, Dominic Edward Anikpara told journalists at his office in Torit that his office regrets the situation and is concerned about the whereabouts of the missing Wani.

He said Wani, taking with him a car, disappeared from his home before midday of Thursday 10 July 2014 in Torit. Acting Director Anikpara narrated to the press that, after realizing his absence for some days, his office raised the alarm and launched a search for the missing lawyer.

On checking Torit town’s checkpoints, they learned through security officers at Lobalwa checkpoint that the missing man, who was well known to the officers, had passed through their station, apparently travelling to Ikwoto County within the state.

On 16 July 2014, according to Anikpara, Wani’s disappearance prompted the office of Legal
Administration in Torit to convene a meeting to discuss how they should resolve the mystery of the missing Public Prosecutor. The office later conducted preliminary investigations with Wani’s family and later made a public announcement over the state owned radio station in Torit, 97.5fm in Torit.

He disclosed that the office later followed the missing man’s route, until they found a car near Loming village on Loming-Imehejek road. The vehicle was parked after it got stuck on the main road. The missing man, based on footmarks, branched and followed a route through bushy and mountainous areas and could not easily be traced. 

Several of the missing man’s office colleagues, including notably were concerned for his well being, joining the search for Wani. They retrieved the abandoned car and brought it to Hiyala. Acting Director Anikpara remains hopeful that nothing untoward would happen to his colleague and appealed to the surrounding communities to take care of him, should they find him, and bring him back to Torit.  

Prior to this incident, Wani, who comes from Lokaya in Central Equatoria State, had been serving as Torit County Public prosecution attorney.
