The State Minister of Education, Science and Technology Pia Philip Michael who met the UNICEF Country Director Jonathan Veitna in his office Tuesday said UNCEF’s support had seen tremendous developments in the education sector.
Pia said the post-CPS era had seen a steady rise in the number of educational facilities in the state, adding that the relative peace in Western Equatoria had provided a conducive environment for learning.
The Minister disclosed that his ministry has established youth peace building groups as a way of engaging the unemployed youth in constructive activities.
“We have capitalised on the prevailing peace in Western Equatoria to integrate everyone in the society into educational activities. I must say that with the support of various humanitarian agencies, including UNICEF, we have been able to achieve a lot”, he said.
