The Justice and Peace Commission [JPC] has forged a working relationship with the media in Western Equatoria State.

JPC met journalists in Yambio, Western Equatoria State on Tuesday, where modalities of ensuringdissemination of information on peace building were discussed.

JPC manager Minaida Peter Jamous affirmed his commitment to collaborate with the media towards publicising peace building efforts.

“The agenda is to make sure there is cordial working relationship with all media houses in Western Equatoria State and ensuring they pass the right information to the public”, he said.

He also pledged to support efforts to ensure the safety and security of journalist is in the state as they undertake their duties.

“We will bring together the media and the state government in order to address several issues, includinglobbying for the stability of press secretaries’ jobs”, he said.

At the meeting it was also resolved that adequate information will be shared with media houses on time in order to facilitate effective dissemination.

A participant, Father John Gbemboyo, commended JPC for convening he meeting, saying the media plays an important role in informing the public.
