Solidarity with the Kenya’s activists and population that are working for the growth of democracy in Kenya. Community Empowerment for Progress Organization-CEPO, South Sudan want to congratulate the Kenya’s High Court decision for suspending some of the more controversial measures of the national security disputed law

Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization, South Sudan said with the concept of globalizing the countries in the region into East African community, we CEPO in South Sudan become concern over the measurers around refugee treatment and the measures of police detaining suspects for 360 days  without charges

Having South Sudan refugees now in Kenya in thousands, it was disturbing to hear that Kenya national security have powers to limiting the number of refugee in Kenya since the region is full of civil wars that are connected to the interest of the regional political leaders.

Citing the context of South Sudan, Kenya is now hosting our former detainees, Uganda is fully in support of the government and some region countries behind the carts are supporting the military opposition against the power in Juba. Economically, the project of East Africa railway line is merging up. Then surprisingly the countries of the region political leadership are enacting controversial national security service laws, what is the motive behind this entire new trend in the region? Yakani added

CEPO is aware that, the regional political leaders are trying to come up with some legislation that allow them to suppressed the voice demanding democratic transformation such as creditability electoral process inclusive and participatory approach of governance. This citizen’s demand sounds as a threat of losing political dominance to the ears of our regional political leadership

Therefore in solidarity, CEPO urge the citizens and activists of Kenya to stand up on enactment of democratic national security services as the same we are doing in South Sudan with our similar law national security services law
