Shops remained closed and roads leading to neighbouring states and other counties blocked during the search.

“As they went from house to house arresting some identified supporters of the Caretaker Governor, the situation was really unmanageable as they arrested chiefs in Maper west, Maper North, Maper East and up to Apada. They also arrested one of the youth today who is identified to be Arkangelo Aru Maduok Akot and they also targeted some MPs supporting Kuel including myself, Joseph Deng Nguac, Hon. Upuothmala, Hon. Athiang Manok and so on. We were released when some military tanks were sent in for reinforcement. But after finding that things became tough for him, he [police commissioner] ran away up to Gok-machar where he went for hiding.” The minister confirmed.

Daniel Akol said that the arrests came after the impeachment attempt of the Governor was not successful because rightful procedures were not followed.

In a heated motion that took place in the assembly hall on Monday, the legislators challenged the legibility of the Caretaker Governor whom they have accused of 9 charges including embezzlement, fraud and unconstitutional steps taken since he assumed the position.

However, the Government Spokesperson and Minister of Information and Communication in Northern Bahr el Gazal State, Wek Kuch Deng on Wednesday said the impeachment of the Caretaker Governor, Kuel Aguer Kuel by the Legislative Assembly on Monday was unconstitutional.

The Minister of Parliamentarian affairs condemned the move by the Police Commissioner Akot Deng who is in favor of the Governor’s impeachment and urged the national Government to quickly respond and handle the situation before it escalates.
