“We encourage women organizations in South Sudan to unite and form one formidable organization because most of these small organizations are not heard. And of course women agenda are one of the priorities of the government and the international community at large. So if they are fragmented and they stay in these small organizations they will not create an impact” said Akuei.
“One of the benefits is the training itself that we give them. We have been working with commercial banks; Equity and Kenyan Commercial Bank (KCB) to help them get some loans through cash collateral because the donors also give some cash collateral to the bank” Deng said. “We encourage women to participate more because you cannot just access these finances unless you are trained. There is what we call Some Business Plan Competition; we are giving women some percentages in it but those who only get trained are those who get the benefit from the facility” he stressed.
He said the focus is much on the women because women are vulnerable in the society and once they are uplifted and empowered they become strong and make the society more empowered.
