The Acting SPLM Chairperson in Western Equatoria State representing Maridi Constituency in the State Legislative Assemble, Bukulu Edward has accused the SPLA of causing chaos in Maridi.

YAMBIO, 30 June 2015 [Gurtong] – Bukulu said that on the 25th of June, around 9am a convoy of 13 mounted jeeps of SPLA Commandos from Juba entered Maridi, heavily armed saying that they were heading to Nzara County.

He further said that on 26 the following day which was Friday the force went to Kuanga area where they fired at some boys who were seated killing one and wounding two others. 37 others were arrested and are being detained at the Maridi Army Barracks.

Bukulu said according to the soldiers, the move is in a bid to flash out the arrow boys in the County.

Bukulu further disclosed that the forces have promised to continue entering other areas including Mboroko, hai Matara and 7miles areas in search of the arrow boys.

Maridi County Commissioner, Wilson Tomas Yanga said that the SPLA forces are currently in Maridi and are not complying with or paying respect to the County authorities including the Division six brigade Commander.

The commissioner condemned the killing and urged the captain in charge of the operations to stop.

He appealed to the government to curb the situation before escalating as residents of Maridi have started fleeing the area out of fear.
