Suspect John Gibbs charged with murder in a fatal shooting incident at Pembroke

Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a male at 13200 Pembroke about 12:30 a.m. on March 14.

The suspect, John Gibbs (b/m, DOB: 1-30-90), is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court.  Gibbs, already in the Harris County Jail on previous unrelated charges, is accused in the killing of  Ryan Sharod Spikes, 18, of Cypress.  Mr. Spikes suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at Ben Taub General Hospital. 

A photo of Gibbs is not avaialble at this time, pending further investigation. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Senior Police Officer X. Avila reported: 

HPD patrol officers responded to a loud noise disturbance call at a party at a residence in the 4400 block of Allison.  As officers and security guards attempted to disperse a large crowd, several gunshots were heard.  Mr. Spikes was struck in the 13200 block of Pembroke near Allison.  He was then transported to the hospital where he died.  HPD patrol officers saw a male suspect with a gun and attempted to detain him.  The suspect fled the scene on foot. 

Further investigation and witness statements identified Gibbs as the shooter in this case and, last Friday (July 13), he was charged in this case.
