Houston police are investigating the death of a male at 4102 Dorchester about 1:30 a.m. today.

The victim, Joseph Orin Perry, 50, of the above address, suffered a puncture wound to the neck and was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer B. Evans and Officer K. Meek reported:

Mr. Perry’s brother was outside when he was approached by Perry, who began to talk irrationally. Joseph Perry then became irate and grabbed his brother around his neck. Perry continued to behave erratically and suddenly retreated to a grassy area where he collapsed. Perry got back up and collapsed a second time. As Perry stood up, his brother saw he was bleeding from around the neck area. A witness walking nearby then called 9-1-1. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported Perry to the hospital where he died.

The investigation is continuing.
