Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a female found at 12100 Overbrook Lane about 2 a.m. today.

The identity of the female victim, who was severely burned, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Tolls and Officers J. French and P. Vela reported:

HFD emergency personnel responded to a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Mansions of Shadowbriar Apartments. Once the fire was put out, HFD found the body of what appeared to be a female in the back seat. Homicide investigators were then called to the scene.

The investigation is pending the woman’s identity and cause of death.
