The fatal shooting of an armed male at 8100 River Drive about 2:45 a.m. on Monday (July 5) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased male, Jaime Salazar, of Houston, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male shooter, 21, was not injured in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. J. Wilson and Officer J. L. French reported:

Salazar and several other males were refusing to leave the "El Antro" night club at 8103 Gulf Freeway. As an employee bouncer removed them from the club, the men got into a fight with the employee. A security guard working at the club arrived and broke up the fight. As the employee and the security guard were walking back to the club, Salazar went back to his truck, got a pistol, and began firing towards the employee. The security guard returned fire with his weapon and struck Salazar. Salazar then jumped into his truck and, still firing his weapon, drove away. The security guard continued to fire his weapon and struck Salazar several times. Salazar then crashed his truck into a ditch and died at the scene. A female passenger in the truck was also struck by a stray bullet and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the knee.
