Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the death of a boy at 4948 Polk #18 about 4:05 a.m. on Sunday (July 11).

The victim’s father, Alex McGowen Duncan (b/m, DOB: 7-19-75), also known as "Boomer," is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. Tammyra Lanette Sampson (b/f, DOB: 12-4-79) is charged with injury to a child by omission in the 230th State District Court.

The victim, Tekerrious Jackson, 6, suffered severe bodily injury and was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B. Harris and J. Roberts reported:

The victim, Tekerrious, also known as “T.K.,” was taken by ambulance to the hospital after it appeared he had suffered a seizure. Once there, attending physicians noted severe trauma to Jackson’s body.

The suspect, Duncan, was recently reunited with his son. Saturday night (July 10), about 7 p.m., Duncan put T.K. to bed but became upset when the boy would not go to sleep. For the next eight hours, T.K. was made to kneel with his arms extended in front of him. Duncan told investigators whenever T.K. lowered his arms he would receive a series of blows as part of what Duncan described as "chest boxing." Duncan described this as a flurry of punches to the chest and other parts of the body.

An 11-year-old girl (no relation to either Duncan or T.K.) told investigators for several days Duncan forced her to watch the series of beatings. The girl’s mother, Sampson, also described witnessing Saturday night’s beating as well as a series of beatings for the past several days. Sampson further told investigators she once stopped Duncan so she could show him how to properly discipline a child with a belt.
