Charges have been filed against a suspect in the sexual assault of a juvenile female in southeast Houston in July 2006.

The suspect, Kenneth Ray Pool (w/m, DOB: 11-14-47) is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child in the 248th State District Court. Pool is currently in jail in the Texas Department of Corrections Boyd Unit.

On July 12, 2006, a 12-year-old female was kidnapped from her residence in the 15000 block of Old Galveston Road by an unknown male suspect, who claimed to be a law enforcement officer. The victim’s hands and face were bound and she was then taken to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted. The suspect then released her at the 3800 block of Red Bluff, in Pasadena.

An HPD investigation into this case was opened and victim statements and evidence were collected. DNA evidence entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) identified Pool as the suspect in this case. Investigators obtained DNA evidence from Pool and a match was confirmed. He was charged on May 18.

At 2 p.m. TODAY (Tuesday, July 13), an investigator in the HPD Juvenile Sex Crimes Unit will be available to answer questions from the media on this case at the Edward J. Stringfellow Southeast Patrol Station at 8300 Mykawa Roa
