Suspect Daniel Romero charged with rendering aid in a fatal traffic accident involving death at 9000 North Freeway

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident in the 9000 block of the North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 11:40 p.m. on June 13. 

The suspect, Daniel Romero (H/m, 30), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in accident involving death in the 177th State District Court. He is accused for his role in the death of an infant girl, River Ramsey, 11 months.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer M. Rios reported: 

A silver Ford Escape and a black Chevrolet pickup truck were stopped on the southbound North Freeway service road when the driver of a green Chevrolet Tahoe failed to control his speed and struck both vehicles. The driver of the Tahoe fled the scene.

The victim (baby), a passenger in the Ford, was transported to Houston Northwest Hospital where she died.
Further investigation identified Romero as the suspect in this case and he was arrested on Monday (June 23) without incident.
