Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a woman found at 600 Fairview about 8 a.m. on Thursday (Oct. 21).

The victim, Abigal Saucedo, 66, of the above address, was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Hanslik and Senior Police Officer R. Swainson reported:

Patrol officers responded to a welfare check/foul odor call at a small apartment building at the above location. Officers and residents of the complex then searched under and around the building and determined the odor was coming from unit #2. Officers spoke with a 31-year-old male in the apartment, who claimed his elderly mother (Ms. Saucedo) was sick and that he preferred officers to search elsewhere. Officers then asked permission to search the apartment and found Ms. Saucedo.

Saucedo’s son, her caregiver, was transported to the Harris County Mental Health Service Center for evaluation. However, no charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is pending cause of death to be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
