John Anthony Lopez charged for the murder of Travone Ford in Houston, Texas

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 11930 South Wilcrest about 2:30 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 22).

The suspect, John Anthony Lopez (H/m, DOB: 9-6-83), is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Travone Ford, 24, of Houston. Mr. Ford suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants K. McGray, K. Deese, and Officer N. Wackman reported:

Mr. Ford and Lopez got into an argument that turned into a physical fight. At some point, Lopez produced a shotgun and shot Ford as Ford was leaving the scene.

On Saturday (Oct. 23), Lopez turned himself in and provided to investigators a statement admitting to his involvment in Ford’s death.
