Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a female and the wounding of a male at 8218 Concord about 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 30.

Carlos Jesus Marquez (H/m, DOB: 7-28-92) is charged with murder in the 208th State District Court. He is accused in the death of a Loreal Bronte Castro, 17, of Houston, who suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital. A second victim, Simon Romero, 18, of Pearland, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was treated and released from a hospital. A photo of suspect Marquez is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W.R. Elsbury and Senior Police Officer R.P. Martinez reported:

After attending a Halloween party, the victims were seated in Mr. Romero’s pickup truck in front of the residence at the above location. An unknown vehicle drove by and the suspect or suspects began firing several gunshots, striking the victims and several vehicles also parked nearby. The shooter or shooters then fled the scene.

Further investigation led to the indentification of Marquez as a suspect. On Thursday (Nov. 4), he was arrested without incident.
