Vernon McRae charged with murder of Michael Washington in Washington, D.C

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced today that an arrest has been made in the homicide of Michael Washington.

On Tuesday, October 26th, 2010, at approximately 9:55 pm, members from the Seventh District responded to the 1600 block of Morris Rd, SE for the report of an assault. Upon their arrival, they found the victim suffering from trauma to the head. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local area hospital where he was treated and admitted. On Monday, November 1st, 2010 the victim identified as 63 year-old Michael Washington of the 1600 block of Morris Road, SE, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

On Thursday, November 4, 2010, at 10:00 am, 22-year-old Vernon McRae of Southeast, DC, was arrested in Northeast, DC by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Mr. McRae has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
