Murder charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 4600 Blaffer Street about 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 14.

The suspect, James Anthony Durr (b/m, DOB: 5-20-84), was taken into custody after surrendering to authorities in Shreveport, Louisiana, last Friday (Nov. 19). He is accused in the death of Jason Waldrup, 22, of Houston, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Senior Police Officer M. Waters II reported:

Mr. Waldrup was found lying in the 4600 Block of Blaffer St with a head wound, but appeared to be breathing. The person who found him called 9-1-1. Paramedics transported Waldrup to Ben Taub General Hospital.

Further investigation revealed Mr. Waldrup was last seen getting into a gray 2006 Mitsubishi Gallant with Texas license plates 948-LWM. He was accompanied by Durr.

Durr surrendered to Shreveport police on Friday and the wanted vehicle (Mitsubishi) was recovered. HPD homicide investigators questioned Durr and are awaiting his extradition back to Harris County, at which time they will file murder charges against him.
