Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the homicide of Jacobo Vazquez.

On Friday, November 12, 2010, units from the First District responded to the 100 block of Constitution Ave, NW, to investigate the report of a missing person. The missing person was identified as 36-year-old Jacobo Vazquez of the 1100 block of Massachusetts Ave NW. Reporting officers alerted detectives due to the suspicious nature of the disappearance.

On Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at approximately 9:45 am, a body was found along side of the westbound lanes of I-70 in Maryland. Detectives from the Homicide Branch responded to the scene where they were able to make an identification of the decedent as the missing person from the 100 block of Constitution Ave, NW. The body was removed to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland. On November 17, 2010 an autopsy was performed and the manner of death was ruled a homicide and the cause of death to be gunshot wounds. Subsequent investigation revealed that the homicide occurred in the 100 block of Constitution Avenue NW.

On Saturday, November 20, 2010, at approximately 3:30 pm members of the Homicide Branch and Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 34-year-old Marvin Palencia pursuant to an arrest warrant charging him with Murder 1 while Armed. Palencia was arrested without incident in Hyattsville, Maryland.

  1. everybody thinks my father is quilty for everythinq! they say police men arrested my Dad! the truth is that my father turn him self in ! i am proud of him and its sad but i know he will be safe.! they think jacobo is the victim but he is as guilty as my dad too.! reporters and newspaper justt write down that my dad shot him, but they dont write the whole story! they dont know jacobo stuck out a knife to my dad and ran up to him to attack him,! thats why my dad shoot he got scared and had no choice to run away! but then he deccomment_IDed the right thinq to do was to turn himself in! i am sick and tired of thinkinq my dad is the guilty person here.! jacobo told everybody at work he was goinq to get rcomment_ID of my dad one day.! thats why my dad was always prepared and protected! i wish they interviewed meh! and ill make everybody shut up! pleadinq my dad guilty! i am a Palencia and i will always be proud to have that last name!!!
