Bush family spokesperson has confirmed that former President George H.W. Bush will remain in a Houston hospital overnight on Wednesday, where he was shifted the day before due to shortness of breath. According to spokesman Jim McGrath, 90-year-old Mr. Bush was shifted via an ambulance to Houston Methodist Hospital on Tuesday evening as a precaution, and thereafter he has had a “good day” and his prognosis “remains positive.”

Back in 2012, Mr. Bush spent the Christmas in the intensive care at the same hospital while receiving treatment for a bronchitis-related cough and other issues. At the time, Mr. Bush received treatment for almost two months in the hospital until he was discharged in January 2013. It cannot be said whether the country’s oldest living former president, Bush, would be able to spend this Christmas at home. Upon receiving the news about Mr. Bush’s hospital admission, President Barack Obama sent best wishes while at vacation in Hawaii. White House spokesman, Eric Schultz, stated that “President Obama and the first lady send their good wishes to the former president and the entire Bush family during this holiday season.”

Quite noticeably, Mr. Bush only made two public appearances last month. These included an event at Texas A&M University with his son, former President George W. Bush, and as the coin-toss captain for the Houston Texans during a Nov. 23 game that honored the U.S. Armed Forces. Mr. Bush has been a naval aviator in World War II and was shot down over the Pacific.
