Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 6405 Westward about 5:20 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 19).

The suspect, Juan F. Trevino (H/m, DOB: 11-6-69), is charged with murder in the 208th State District Court. 

The victim, 25, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Senior Police Officer C. Abbey reported:

The victim, his girlfriend and the victim’s friend were driving home from an after-hours club. At some point, the victim and his girlfriend got into an argument and he struck her in the face. The girlfriend stopped her car at an apartment complex at 6405 Westward and asked the security guard (Trevino) to call police. Trevino and the victim exchanged words and then got into a fight. The victim’s friend also began to fight with Trevino. Afterwards, the victim and his friend walked away. Trevino then fired his gun at the victim, killing him. The friend and the victim’s girlfriend were not injured.
