Police shooting leaves two dead in Washington, DC

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a police involved shooting which occurred in the 1000 block of Irving Street, NE.

On Sunday, February 13, 2011, at approximately 10:30 pm, units from the Fifth District were dispatched to the 1000 block of Irving Street, NE, for the report of a burglary.

Upon arrival on the scene, officers discovered a home invasion in progress. Officers established a perimeter, when suddenly the suspects began to exit the home and fled in different directions. The officers confronted the armed suspects and shots were fired.

Two suspects were fatally wounded. One of the suspects, 21-year-old Akeem Jamaal Cayo, was pronounced dead on the scene. Another suspect 19-year-old Davon Sealy was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The third suspect 21-year-old Stefan Fields was arrested on the scene and faces charges of Felony Assault on a Police Officer and Burglary One While Armed.

All three suspects are from Gaithersburg, MD.
