The Minister of Information, Communication, and Culture Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim announced on Thursday that he has not rejected any application filed by the Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT), who have a performance in Malaysia this weekend.

He further informed the media that he has not rejected any application because there was no application submitted to him or to his office by SDT or any other dancing organization seeking permission. He clarified after SDT registered their protest and showed disappointment saying that there have not go approval from the authorities to perform in Malaysia when they were looking forward to performing.

He responded to the claims of one of the directors of the ballet performing team from Singapore who laid allegations on Puspal saying that the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (KLPAC) has rejected his performance application by stating that the costumes of the performers are way too revealing therefore the performance cannot take place.

Speaking to media members, Minister Rais said, “There is no cancellation or rejection. And if the parties concerned would like to drop us a note, we will be happy to assist. I love all forms of the arts and theatre. Ballot should be encouraged.”

He concluded his media talk saying that he considers nothing wrong in a ballet performance. However, the performance should meet the dress code guidelines.
